We spent the night at my parent’s house last week. Since it was for only one night, my packing was light and a little disheveled; I just threw things into a bag. Apparently, I was just as disorganized when packing our things for our return home. I’d left my toiletries bag at their house. No biggy! The children had spare toothbrushes at home, which I suggested they use. This didn’t set too well with Trooper who informed me that the forgotten toothbrush was his favorite and we would never get …

I don’t know if I should thank Beth over at When I Come Up for Air or hope she grows green tomatoes. Hmm…she would probably enjoy those tasty green tomatoes. Beth has caused me to spend even more time in my kitchen because, now I can’t seem to come up w/a good reason to not, at least try, to make everything we eat. Replacing store bought bread for homemade is my next challenge. I was tagged by her to participate in the Meme 6 Random Things about myself. Even though each person should be …

Well, first of all, he’s not two yet and second it’s just not possible. Children are victims of their parents. Their only hope, but they don’t realize it until they’re adults, is that we don’t totally embarrass them to the point where looking through a family album makes them cry about being alive.
Schubaboobaly still has his baby hair. He has not yet had that first real haircut and I’m not sure how soon, if ever, he will have “the cut.” My oldest son came to this same point in his …

I did a lot of cleaning this weekend. As I was putting in a load of laundry into the dryer, I had to laugh. When we bought our washer and dryer set, I had to have everything; all of the features. My husband abided by my request and bought me the top of the line. We have had the set for more than three years and I still press the same three buttons I’ve always have since the beginning. Between the washer and dryer, I have 14 wash cycles, five …

Is it too much to ask to have my bed to myself? Our children love sleeping in our bed. On most nights, they start in their beds after already asking several times if they can sleep in our bed. Some days, I start early in the day with my, “no!” I might as well get ready because I know they are going to ask. Other times, we’ll let them start in our bed and move them later, but they always manage to make their way back into our bed. It …

I don’t know what I was expecting when I moved to the country; green grass, waking up to the morning sunlight, birds chirping…Well, I did get those things, but along with all of that comes other elements of country living which include field mice, rattlesnakes, and lots and lots of bugs.
After a few months of living here, we started noticing mice in our garage. The weather was getting cooler and just like humans, they were searching for a warm place to stay. The only problem is that our house doesn’t …

Today is a beautiful day. It is a day that God has made. It is a day that means very little to some and a day that changed the lives of so many. Today, my children will wake up, again request a bowl of cereal, and then later ask to go outside to play. For now, to them, it is just another day. Even seven years later, I still do not really know how to tell them, but I do realize they need to know.
Seven years ago, I was pregnant …

My sister Karen is pretty cool. All of the cousins love her and her niece and nephews totally adore her. She is fun, quirky, the defender of all people, and the perfect playmate. She can imitate just about anyone, which sends us all rolling on the floor (I’ve told her to stop doing impressions of me if she wants to continue seeing her niece and nephews.) in laughter and in the next moment, bring a tear to your eye. How can so much fun be wrapped up into one person? …
