She Shows Me How Great It Is To Be Alive

My daughter is a free-spirit (there you go mom) in the making. She is nothing like me, which is a good thing. I actually hope to become more like her. Minna Beana is very generous, loving, easy to get along with…Okay, I am and can be those things, but she doesn’t sweat the small stuff. At the tender age of four, you may wonder what she has to be so troubling; absolutely nothing. For her, life is good, as it should be for all of us. She makes flowers out of broken petals, has a sweet voice and sings songs that melt your soul (her favorite songs now are We Live by Superchick

The Toothbrush Rule

We spent the night at my parent’s house last week. Since it was for only one night, my packing was light and a little disheveled; I just threw things into a bag. Apparently, I was just as disorganized when packing our things for our return home. I’d left my toiletries bag at their house. No biggy! The children had spare toothbrushes at home, which I suggested they use. This didn’t set too well with Trooper who informed me that the forgotten toothbrush was his favorite and we would never get …

Surely, this is Enough Water

Once again, California is experiencing a drought. I know we need the water, but I would really rather it not rain. The water is wet, cold, and it makes mud. On the other hand, it makes for great picture taking. Under all of this water (a good ten feet) is where we normally sit on the banks with our feet dangling, during the cooler months, and also swim during the warmer months, in our creek.
Despite expected heavy and continuous rain for the next few days, it’s gonna be another …

Life - One Big Project #2

You may remember Life - One Big Project #1 and then there was Life - One Big Project #1, Take Two…Well, I didn’t accomplish either project the first time around and the second time around was another bust. So, I thought I would try it again, only forget about the first and start all over again with an entirely new project. Okay, I will definitely accomplish this project. I’m certain of it because there is no room for failure. Basically, if I’m not done by March 2, then whatever is …

What Differentiates You?

We recently spent a few days in Las Vegas. Since, what happens there, stays there, this is all I am able to share. Las Vegas was just like home in that it had a Starbucks and two of my favorites a Panda Express and a Whole Foods. I know “Vegas” is known for gambling, but I had to laugh at the opportunity to do so in the grocery store. I can see my grocery list now, “…eggs, apples, toilet paper, play a few quarters…”
Sometimes the difference between you and another …

If Only Their Brains Matched Their Beauty

This is a beautiful feather that came off of a beautiful bird; the peacock. They stroll across our yard daily with a sense of purpose and also show some caution by trotting away quickly when we get too close to them. On the other hand, they poop on our patio, and will stand for hours (if we let them) pounding at the glass on our French doors at their reflection until their faces are a bloody pulp. They think they are getting the better of the other bird who they …
